Sandy Tinsley recognized for major contributions to The Florida Keys & Key West

By John Underwood

Our very own CEO, Sandy Tinsley, was just recognized for her contributions to The Florida Keys tourism Industry by The Lodging Association of The Florida Keys & Key West on Friday night, at their annual awards banquet at the Pier House in Key West.

By unanimous vote, Sandy received the Margo Golan Community Service Award that recognizes leaders in the tourism industry who have made substantial contributions in the community. The recipients of this award have had a long-lasting, beneficial impact on The Florida Keys and are recognized for engaging in business or public affairs honestly and setting examples for others. Not only in tourism, but for making contributions that will be remembered and become a part of the history of the Keys.

Tinsley Advertising was awarded The Florida Keys & Key West tourism account for the Monroe County Tourist Development Council in 1986 and has maintained it for 30 years. Through recessions, storms and national disasters, the relationship has remained strong with successful marketing efforts that have not only yielded both the highest occupancy and average daily rates in the state, but also the top 10 in the country. Our campaigns have been recognized with numerous awards by travel industry leaders throughout the country. They have also been cited as successful tourism marketing case studies.

We are all very proud of Sandy, her leadership and our long-standing relationship with The Florida Keys & Key West.

The Lodging Association of The Florida Keys & Key West is the trade organization that represents the interests of the lodging industry in The Florida Keys. They represent more than 80% of all licensed lodging units throughout Key West and the rest of The Florida Keys. The membership primarily consists of Monroe County’s travel and tourism influencers including lodging owners and general managers throughout the destination.

Winds of change are blowing through Washington.

The Florida Keys & Key West take over D.C. train stations.

By Dorn Martell

Our new creative for Washington D.C. train stations is causing quite a stir. Especially our poster that features a Snowy Egret (who’s having a bad hair day) sporting the headline: “Donald is that you?”. It’s hard to make noise in a town that’s known for an abundance of political “hot air” but our new campaign seems to have really gotten people’s attention.

This ad is part of a series of train station posters that dominated D.C. train stations during the month of February. Other posters featured headlines like “Swing State”, “Way outside the Beltway”, “Party Platform”, and “What the Founding Fathers were really looking for”. We stay pretty neutral on politics but we couldn’t miss an opportunity to make fun of the process and a certain candidate’s challenging comb-over.

Tinsley and City Furniture encourage women to get checked for breast cancer.

By Dorn Martell

Breast cancer. It’s the second leading cause of death among women. Each year over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and for over 40,000 women, the disease will be fatal. Sobering statistics and the rationale for our latest spot for City Furniture. The spot talks about how breast cancer hits close to home and that every woman should be checked. A message that is especially relevant since the recent passing of Doreen Koenig, philanthropist and wife of City Furniture CEO Keith Koenig. The spot was created pro bono with services donated by voice actor Dave DeAndrea and Audacity Recording. It will run for the month of October and our sincere hope is that every woman will get examined and that some day there will be a cure for this horrible disease.

Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa Teams Up with Tinsley

By Dorn Martell

The renowned Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa has selected Tinsley Advertising as their Creative Agency of Record after a review that included several noteworthy agencies specializing in luxury travel. Our experience working for brands like Seabourn and Cunard Cruise Lines, The Boca Raton Resort and Club, The Florida Keys & Key West and Karisma Gourmet-Inclusive Resorts earned us an invitation to shoot it out for the business and we responded to the challenge. The RFP asked us to demonstrate our knowledge of the Luxury Traveler, as well as our understanding and experience reaching the coveted northeastern winter traveler with an annual income of $250,000.

“From the moment we received their proposal it was clear that Tinsley understood the value of making a “stand out” first impression,” said John Bradway, Vice President of Marketing at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. “In this highly competitive market you only have one chance and it better be on point. We need the right people to deliver our message in a highly creative and impactful manner. That’s why we chose Tinsley.”

We are thrilled to be part of the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa team and look forward to a long relationship.

Delicious Adventure

New TV Campaign for Azul Hotels by Karisma

Watching the sunrise over Mayan ruins at Tulum, swimming with blind catfish in a cenote, then retreating to a lavish resort in time for an amazing meal at Le Chique is our idea of a good time. That’s exactly how it all went down in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and we have the footage to prove it. Our new spot for Azul Hotels highlights the Karisma Gourmet Inclusive® Experience combined with the unforgettable adventures available to their guests. The soundtrack for this piece is “opera meets chill wave”. It is designed to attract a modern luxury traveler with a sense of adventure and a taste for gourmet cuisine.

A Feast for the Eyes

Tinsley creates website for Le Chique

Barnacles, ant eggs and cricket powder are not your typical ingredients for gourmet cuisine, but Le Chique, at Azul Sensatori in Rivera Maya, Mexico is not your typical restaurant. Many items on the menu at Le Chique are not what they appear to be. But what they are, is both beautiful and delicious. So when our client, Karisma Hotels & Resorts, asked us to design and write their new website, we knew we had to create a visual feast that would inspire the world’s gourmands. With inspiration from Chef Jonatán Gómez Luna, we created a site that embraced the visual artistry of the incredible team at Le Chique and used 2 talented photographers, Moris Moreno and Melissa Barnes, to capture these amazing dishes. “I’ve had the luxury of eating at many restaurants but there really, truly is something special about Le Chique” said Giovanny Gutierrez, Director of Interactive at Tinsley and Chat Chow TV Founder. Look for Le Chique and Chef Jonatán to really set the food world on fire and please check out our new site, it’s really a feast for the eyes. http://lechiquerestaurant.com

Lose Your Baggage in The Florida Keys

By Dorn Martell

It really stinks to lose your luggage, but who doesn’t have some baggage they’d like to get rid of? That’s the theme of our new accommodations spot for The Florida Keys and Key West. The shoot covered the entire destination of Monroe County and included every type of accommodation imaginable. Whether you want to live large in a grand resort or camp out by the ocean, The Keys have something for everyone. But what you’ll find throughout The Keys is what you need most… a place to chill out and let the real world run itself for awhile.

Tinsley wins a “Henry” for Monroe County’s LGBT campaign.

By Dorn Martell

Henry Flagler would be proud and a little shocked if he were at the Governor’s Conference last week in Boca Raton. Tinsley was awarded the prestigious Henry Award for our ongoing LGBT campaign for The Florida Keys & Key West. The Flagler Awards, sponsored by Visit Florida, recognize outstanding tourism marketing and the vision, perseverance, imagination and commitment of the Florida pioneer Henry Flagler. The campaign is a multi media effort and the three ads that won are as follows:

“You’ll be up all night”, “Breakfast with Tiffany” and “Comfort zone”.

Tinsley also won three bronze Flaglers for other aspects of The Florida Keys & Key West advertising campaign.

“It is gratifying to know the TDC’s promotional efforts continue to be recognized as among the best in Florida,” said TDC Director Harold Wheeler. “But more importantly, they continue to produce measurable results in maintaining a sustainable visitor industry for The Florida Keys.”

We are very honored to add another Henry to our large collection and we continue to be grateful to the Monroe County TDC for having the vision and spirit that allows us to do work that is fun and effective.

Giovanny Gutierrez, Tinsley’s Director of Interactive, named one of Miami’s Best Dressed by Brickell Magazine.

By Rick Blitman

Admit it. When you think of web guys, you think of Comic Book Guy from “The Simpsons.” Doughy. Pasty. Greasy. Wedged into an ill-fitting Federal Boob Inspector t-shirt. But that picture’s not entirely accurate. First, because chances are you’ve never actually seen a web guy. They don’t get out much. And second, because you’ve obviously never met Giovanny Gutierrez. And that’s unlikely, because there’s nobody he doesn’t know. Gio may be the only web guy on earth who’s completely at home in public. He was social media before there was social media. Which explains why when he’s not helping to keep Tinsley on the cutting edge, he’s the life of every party he attends, pursuing his other passion, food. One accidental taste of a cheeseburger sent this lifelong Vegan spiraling into a hard core food frenzy of pickled duck tongue and spherification caviar…which led to the creation of his highly successful Chat Chow web series. And now he’s been named one of the most stylish men in Miami. But don’t worry. Gio still puts his pants on one leg at a time. They’re just better tailored than yours.

The Gourmet Adventure – Tinsley launches new campaign for Karisma’s El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels

By Dorn Martell

Today’s luxury traveler is an elusive target. They aren’t as easy to spot as the top hat and white glove crowd once were. The luxury traveler of today is not only defined by income, but by lifestyle. And that lifestyle has evolved. That’s where Karisma Hotels & Resorts comes into the picture.

Karisma’s exclusive Gourmet Inclusive® concept recognizes that foodies are a huge part of high-end travel and gastronomic getaways are what they crave. Combined with unique adventures and cultural experiences, Karisma’s adults-only El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels deliver all that and more. And our new TV spot showcases this in a sophisticated and contemporary way.

The spot uses original music combined with culinary terms over lush resort images and various adventure experiences captured in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. Horseback riding on a sugar sand beach and exploring the Mayan ruins at Tulum are married with amazing dishes prepared by some of the world’s finest chefs.

“Tinsley understands that the luxury traveler has seen it all, but this new campaign will show our target audience that you can have gourmet cuisine, superior service and exotic adventures in an unforgettable setting.” Said Mandy Chomat, VP Sales & Marketing.

The new spot begins airing in September. Watch for new work for Karisma by Tinsley including: print, trade show materials, web sites, and on-property merchandising coming soon.
